We did spend another full day in Apalachicola. We like this town. It has most of the elements we enjoy. Small scale, compact and attractive town center, several good restaurants, interesting locals, very friendly, a great Cuban breakfast spot that serves a excellent latte, interesting photo locations, an active historical location, not too commercial, still underdeveloped, the arts are appreciated, enough liberals to balance a right leaning community, etc.
We spent the whole day just walking about. Took lots of photos. Got a haircut in a barbershop that has been in operation since 1903. Only one chair. Very rudimentary.
Industry here is oysters and shrimp and lots of both. Fleet is east of town and not smelly! Shrimp here is cheap!
Heading to Fort Walton Beach tomorrow we think. Gordon spent several months in Fort Walton while in the Air Force in the 60's.
