Interesting day. The plan was to run to Key West for our usual breakfast at the Banana Cafe and then to return to Big Pine to begin packing up for our Wednesday morning departure.
Except ..we received a call from the landlord just before noon asking us if we had left. We said no we were leaving Wednesday morning. He replied that we were supposed to leave today! What?
Evidently there was confusion and he had adjusted the rent so we were to leave today making way for him to have new windows installed tomorrow morning. Except we were not told of this change.
Long story short. We packed in a flash and were on our way off the Keys by 2:30pm. Quick reservations made for a stay north of Miami tonight before we run across Alligator Alley to the west coast of Florida tomorrow morning.
Worked out fine but not a relaxing departure. Too frenzied. Not to our taste.
