Fish Sabbath?

So........here we are again. On a bridge, somewhere in the Florida Keys with a nice flood tide running (water moving from the Atlantic toward the Gulf of Mexico), lots of folks fishing just like us and nobody is catching a bloody thing!

Are there just a lot of bored people down here or are there actually fish below all of us laughing there asses off because the idiots on the bridge should know today is the fish Sabbath?

So....we've tried all the techniques and tips we've learned from the locals but nada, zipo, zilch! Ah ah ah ah ah......just as this is written Charles nails a nice legal Mangrove Snapper. Enough for an appetizer for sure.

Nice excitement while it lasted but another hour did not improve our count so we headed to one if our favorite spots for lunch; The Islamorada Fish Company on Islamorada Key. Grilled Snapper and salad. Yum.

While there we watched the daily feeding of the tarpons. Big wild fish up to 125 pounds come from who knows where (They are not caged. The feeding area is open to the sea) each day for this feeding frenzy. Fun to watch the tarpons and the pelicans fight for every morsel. How tarpon and pelican know its time for the feeding (to the minute) is beyond human understanding.

Simple fare tonight...G&T's , Hot Dogs and Boston Baked Beans and later ..........a nice cigar!
