West Martello Tower

In Key West for breakfast and discovered this very pretty old uncompleted fort (circa 1846) whose purpose was to be to help control navigation in the area.

The project was abandoned by federal sponsors before completion. Then in ~1944 the site was adopted by the Key West Garden Club. The club hauled in tons of earth over several decades and over time planted the uncompleted fort as a unique tropical garden.

Watched the Tavistock Cup in the afternoon. Tiger's team Albany won.
